The national team of Amputation Football Union (PSAI) or Indonesia Amputee Football (INAF) brought good news for qualifying for the 2022 Amputation World Cup. The Indonesian Amputation National Team currently has 15 players, 1 coach and 2 officials, as well as several volunteers. Meanwhile, for regular training, they use a grass field run by the Ministry of Defense RI Headquarters in Bintaro, Jakarta, South.
The good news was obtained after the Indonesian amputation football team defeated Malaysia with a score of 3-0 in the preliminaries held in Bangladesh.
PSAI succeeded in ranking second in the East Asian zone preliminaries after collecting six points resulting from three games in the qualifying round. Junaidi Abdillah and other disabled athletes managed to beat Bangladesh by a score of 8-0. When the final match was against Japan, the Indonesian Amputation National Team lost by a score of 0-2.Â
According to a member of the House of Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (DPR RI) Ledia Hanifa Amalia, the achievement that achieved by the PSAI national team is a new history. PSAI's achievement was remarkable because this was the first time Indonesia entered the world cup in amputation football.
"This is the first history of the Indonesian people and they made it. Of course, we are all proud and hopefully more Indonesian people will give support to the PSAI national team for his World Cup next October," Leida said in a press statement of the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) quoted Wednesday (16/3/2022).
The Government Ready to Support, the Minister of Youth and Sports of Indonesia, Zainudin Amali, is also proud of the achievement of the Indonesian Amputation National Team. According to Zainudin, the government is ready to attend to provide aid and support.
"The Indonesian amputation football team has no parent yet. They have not been affiliated with PSSI and FIFA. However, the government will still pay attention," said Zainudin Amali.
