New Zealand is a developed country that neighbors Australia. New Zealand is known as a country with excellent education quality and system in the world. So, when you graduate, your qualification will be recognized internationally. According to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2018, "New Zealand is the only country in the world to have all its universities ranked within the top 500. All eight are ranked among the top 3 percent in the world". New Zealand also has a high quality of life. New Zealand is often ranked first in the world for its education, personal freedom, safety, and natural environment.
Indonesia has a different thing where the quality of education is 128 years behind developed countries, said the Special Staff of the President of Indonesia, Adamas Belva Syah Devara. According to several sources that I found via YouTube, that in Indonesia kids in primary take exams, so it is with New Zealand. But the difference is, in Indonesia if a kid's result isn't good, if they're bad they get held back.Â
In New Zealand, a lot of emphasis is placed on, not the tests themselves but it's okay if you fail because you're a kid and you should be running around outside, climbing trees, and learning stuff too. But in primary and Junior High School in New Zealand, if your result isn't that great or they're just alright, it's okay. But if your result is good, you get recognized for that.
Senior High School in New Zealand is a combination of a compulsory subject. Subject that you have to take, like math, English, science, PE, health, and many more. And also, optional subjects that you can choose from. So, you can choose from things like art, media, languages.Â
Those five years, as you progress in each year, from year 9 to year 10, then 11 and so on, as you progress through Senior High School, you get more a chance to choose more optional subjects and you can decrease your compulsory subject. So, by the time you get to your last year of Senior High School, year 13, you've chosen all of your subjects.
New Zealand has an international education standard. Education and curriculum system very capable. Academic system in university in New Zealand support college student who wants to take a part-time job. Mostly all of the majors in university in New Zealand provides part-time course option. Activity academic proportion, lecturer leads their students to research. Research is balanced with teaching.Â
The lecturer has enough time to give attention to the students. Their kinship is very close because the number of students is small. That's so different from Indonesia education culture that the lecturer the main requirement is 90-100% full of teaching. Lectures don't have time to research with their student.
In Indonesia the number of students in one class between 30 - 40 students. This is can make ineffective lessons because too many students, make it unfocused and their learning outcomes are not optimal.Â
But, in New Zealand, the number of students in one class just 5 - 10 students. This is will be more effective, more personal, more exclusive, the learning atmosphere is very conducive, and we can more interact with our friends, our teachers, or lecturers.Â
When we asking a question or give our opinion, that will appreciate by our teachers or lectures. Your teachers or lectures never judge your English accent. The environment supports your studies, the New Zealand people are friendly and open with new people, tolerance to differences, the education facilities support your education, the curriculum is also okay, but unfortunately, they were short on students.
