Thanks For Reading My Imperfect Blog

I'm just a regular man who doesn't have anything special... well, at least from my point of view. From my teenager time back then in 1980's, I already like being alone and didn't have many friends. I used to live for five years in Egypt from 1981 to 1986, following my father who worked for Indonesian Embassy in Cairo. It was really a fun and great time for me. We took a chance to have a memorable holiday to Europe in 1985. 

My senior high school time in Jakarta was not very good to me. It was just so-so. I didn't have any academic achievement nor criminal records. It means I was just a regular student back then in senior high school. Entering years of 1990's, I tried to study in some colleges in Jakarta. Mostly I quit because I got bored (haha). Well, at least I finally got a diploma in graphic design in 1993. I'm already old, huh? Old but looks good...haha. Just kidding. 

I began to get interested in writing since early 1990's. I sent many articles to media back then, but sadly no positive response. I was also busy doing my college study as well as reading many non-fiction books (philosophy, sociology, religion, science, etc) to broaden my knowledge. The only fiction books I like were comics, such as Tintin, Lucky Luke, or Asterix...haha. 

In early 2000's, I tried to send book scripts. After so many efforts, finally I had my first book published by Balai Pustaka on 2001. The title is Filateli Sebagai Hobi dan Investasi. It was not sold well so that I feel down. After doing this and that, I began to teach English in LPIA Pondok Gede in 2008. My spirit rose up again and I realize I had a good skill in English. Then, I tried to write book again. My second book was published by BIP Jakarta in 2011. The title is Kursus Singkat Bahasa Inggris. It was sold relatively well.  

Until now, I have already written 5 non-fiction books. The latest one was published by BIP also in 2022 with title Percakapan Inggris-Indonesia Bidang Keperawatan dan Rumah Sakit. Yeah... it seems that writing in English is more suitable for me. I know, my English is not perfect. But, readers already recognize me as an English-Indonesian writer. Maybe I will stick with this image.

During covid 19 pandemic, I began to write blog in Kompasiana. I write in many style there: short essay, poetry, humor, English conversations, and simple articles. The topic I write are mostly about culture or life style. Only few I write about politics, law, or economy. Sometimes I write about philosophy too, but not many. 

My blog is far from perfect. I'm not trying to be humble here, it's a fact. I just want to be honest with myself. I mean, I never pretend that I'm an expert so that my blog should be deep and scientific written. I like short and fun style better. So far, my readers are not many. It's okay.
