Basic Concept of Educational Management Information System

First, the Basic Concept of Management Information Systems.
Management Information Systems (MIS) are rooted in three important terms: system, information, and management. A system refers to a set of interrelated elements within a certain environment, while information is data that has been processed and is useful in supporting decision-making. Meanwhile, management comes from the Latin words manus (hand) and agere (to do), which means management or handling. The essence of MIS lies in its ability to process, store, and present data into relevant and useful information for organizations. In education, MIS is not only related to computers but also includes information management supported by information and communication technology (ICT) such as hardware, software, the internet, and multimedia. The benefits include increasing the productivity of school principals and facilitating the delivery of educational management information. Its main principles are effectiveness, efficiency, accountability, and open communication, although limitations such as high costs and cybercrime risks still exist.
