The phenomenon of the rapid development of information technology has brought significant changes in the world of education. The management of student data that was once done manually is now shifting to a faster, more accurate, and more efficient digital system. Schools and madrassas face new challenges in managing various student data such as new student admissions, attendance, achievements, and graduation. Therefore, the presence of the Student Management Information System (SIMKES) is an unavoidable strategic need for the sake of improving the quality of education governance in the digital era. The assumption is that this paper departs from the assumption that effective student management can only be realized through an integrated and technology-based information system. The speed, accuracy, and accuracy of information are the main factors that determine the success of school management. With a structured system, educational institutions can conduct student analysis, planning, and evaluation in a more professional manner. The problem is that although the benefits of SIMKES are very large, its implementation in the field still faces a number of obstacles. Many educational institutions do not have competent human resources (HR) in the field of information technology. In addition, budget constraints hinder the procurement of adequate hardware and software. Another problem that arises is the lack of integration between units in schools, so that student data is still scattered and difficult to analyze thoroughly. The main purpose of  this paper is to explain the importance of the implementation and development of the Student Management Information System (SIMKES) in the world of education. This paper also aims to show how information systems can improve the efficiency, accuracy, and transparency of student management.
First: SIMKES is a system that integrates humans, data, and technology to manage all student activities. The goal is to ensure that every educational process runs effectively, efficiently, and is well documented.
Second: The scope of SIMKES covers the entire process, from new student admissions, data collection, coaching, to graduation and alumni. Each stage has managerial tasks that focus on administrative order and monitoring student development.
Third: The implementation of SIMKES provides benefits in the form of time efficiency, increased transparency, and ease of reporting. The result is faster decision-making, accurate data, and better educational services for students and parents.
Fourth: SIMKES development models based on data and technology integration, such as online PPDB, digital attendance, and web-based reporting. This system allows for real-time and secure data management across school units.
The Student Management Information System is an important innovation in improving the quality of student management. The digitalization phenomenon requires educational institutions to adapt to technology to create efficient and transparent governance. Although still faced with human resources, costs, and system integration constraints, the benefits of SIMKES are much greater for improving the quality of schools. By understanding the concept, scope, benefits, and development model, schools can make SIMKES the foundation towards effective, accountable, and sustainable modern education management.
