The Uniqueness of Architectural Building of Jokopi MERR Surabaya
Jokopi-merr has a strategic location, right next to the Middle East Ring Road (MERR) in Surabaya. The building was designed by ARA Studio during the Covid-19 pandemic. It has a unique shape that seems to be cut into two parts.Â
The northern part of the building is an indoor area, while the southern part is semi-outdoor and serves as a smoking area. Both buildings are separated by the drive-thru vehicle area for visitors.
Modular Structures with Flexibility DesignÂ
Jokopi MERR Surabaya is built using a knock-down construction system. The aim is to allow the building to be disassembled and reassembled as needed. Moreover, considering the land it occupies is still under lease status, the owner intends to facilitate the reconstruction and dismantling process. This method is highly flexible, especially for buildings located on narrow land.
