Choosing a College Major

This year is the graduation year’s for senior high school students. They will continue their study to college. Many of them are still confused with the major they will choose. It makes some of them choose college majors instantly without considering other things such as interests, abilities and circumtances. Consequently, they feel  that they were wrong in choosing major. Students have to be very careful when it comes to choosing a major. Since choosing major is important before becoming a college student.  Therefore, in this essay i just want to explain about three college majors that quite popular in this era. There are engineering and technology, literature and language, and arts-related.

First is engineering and technology.  This major is a part of the faculty of engineering. It is a place where we can improve our knowledge, apply to create tools and thoughts that can simpfly and speed up human work. There are some of engineering and technology study programs such as mechanical engineering, civil engineering, and information technology. In mechanical engineering you will learn the principles of physics wich are then implemented in the analysis, design, manufacturing, and maintenance of machines. In civil engineering you will study more about steel and concrete structures, geotechnical hydraulics, coastal engineering and engineering management.  In informatic engineering you will be trained to develop various programs with programming languages, you also learn mathematics, economics, and etc.

Second is literature and language. It is a part of faculty of cultural studies, it is community of learners who embrace the practice of studying famous literary works, becoming strong writers, learning foreign languages, and generally engaging with the world around us. You will learn everything related into the knowledge of languages, the history of languages, linguistics, writing skills, speaking, and etc. 

In case you are interested with this major, you can choose several study programs such as Anthropology, foreign language and literature, communication. Anthropology learns about various cultures that produced in human life . In language and literature you will learn about the components of languages and general literary works like poetry and drama. In communication you are not only learned how to convey messages efficiently, but also learn about how to use technology and discoveries in this era.

The last is arts-related major. This major is a part of faculty of arts and design. This major have several study programs such as fashion design, interior design, and film and television. In fashion design the students will get an understanding of tools, materials,c onstruction techniques and textile design methods. 

The aim of interior design is to arrange the space inside the room. To do it perfectly the students have to learn basic things like various shapes and materials of a lens, lighting, texture, and color. In film and television students are required to design and produce films, they also learn to use productions tools, script writing, the process of editing, and compiling budgets.

Engineering and technology, literature and language, and arts-related major are some majors that you can choose before going to college. Choosing the right major is very important for your future, it keeps you motivated to achieve the best and enjoy what to do. In addition, before choosing a major, know yourself. Start to think again what you like, what your strengths, what skills that you have, and what kind of career you want to pursue in the future. In the end, you have to realize that only you who can make a decision for your study. Every majors are good, but the important thing is how you can choose the right one for you.
