Anies Rasyid Baswedan was born from a well-educated family on May 7, 1969. The man from Kuningan, West Java started his leadership experience since he was studying in SMAN 2 Yogyakarta as vice head of student council and later on became the head of Indonesia Student Council. After high school, he continued his education focusing on economics and also politics from Universitas Gadjah Mada to University of Maryland, and later took master degree in Northern Illinois University. He started his career in 2006 as National Advisor on decentralization and regional autonomy at the Kemitraan bagi Pembaruan Tata Pemerintahan, Jakarta and research director at The Indonesian Institute. In May 2007, he was appointed as the rector in Universitas Paramadina. His career continued to become Indonesian Minister of Education during the Joko Widodo-Jusuf Kalla presidential term. After fulfilling his role as a minister, he was elected to be the governor of DKI Jakarta in 2017 for five years. Now, Anies Baswedan is running for presidential election of Indonesia with the supporting parties such as Partai Nasdem, Partai Kebangkitan Bangsa (PKB) and Partai Keadilan Sejahtera (PKS) and also Partai Ummat.
