In the digital era, the management of student data in educational institutions still faces various challenges, such as inefficient manual administrative processes and lack of integration. The assumption that the application of information technology can enhance the quality of student management has not been fully optimized, resulting in a gap between technological potential and its implementation in schools. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to review the concept, scope, utilization, and development model of a Student Management Information System (SMIS) as a solution to improve the quality of student management.

The basic concept of SMIS is to integrate human resources and information technology to store, process, and provide accurate and timely student data. This system functions to support decision-making processes and comprehensive student management, from new student admissions to graduation, with the aim of helping schools carry out the learning process effectively and systematically.

The scope of SMIS covers all student management activities such as admission planning, class distribution, academic and non-academic student development, attendance recording, and alumni data management. In addition, SMIS serves to integrate student administration, which has often been scattered and poorly coordinated, thereby enabling schools to provide optimal services for both students and the institution.

The utilization of SMIS offers many significant benefits, such as increased administrative efficiency, reduced data errors, and improved communication between schools, teachers, students, and parents. Integrated and real-time accessible data supports objective evaluation of student development and enables more responsive learning processes tailored to students' needs.

The development model of SMIS emphasizes the implementation of a web-based integrated system supported by a team consisting of supervisors, administrators, and operators to ensure smooth operations. The system must be adaptable to the needs of schools as well as technological changes so that student management can continue to improve and remain relevant to the times.

In conclusion, SMIS is an important innovation in managing student data and activities, providing practical solutions to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of student management in schools. With appropriate information technology support, schools can deliver better services and foster the optimal development of students' potential.
