Borobudur Temple is one of the six wonders of the world in Indonesia. Borobudur Temple from the past until now is believed to be a place of worship for Buddhists around the world. The process of the formation of Borobudur Temple has its own story which is believed by local residents and has long been one of the tourist destinations for local and foreign residents when visiting Magelang, Central Java.
However, on June 5, 2022, the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan increased the tariff for anyone wishing to enter the Borobudur Temple area and announced his intention to increase the tariff to a value of IDR 5,000 for students who want to study tours, IDR 750,000 for residents.Â

"We also take this step in order to maintain the sustainability and authenticity of Borobudur Temple. And not for personal gain," explained Luhut.
Until now, Luhut's consideration has not been legally determined. Seeing the public reaction so far, the government is not sure about the decision to increase the entrance fee to Borobudur Temple.
