How much do you like movies? What kind of movie do you like to watch? Is it romance, thriller, horror, or comedy? What are movies for you? Some people said that a movie is like a medicine, it is a cure of boredom. Movies are made for entertaining.
From the beginning, movies are devided into categories which in Indonesia are A (appropriate for children), BO (appropriate for children with parental guidance), R (appropriate for teenagers), D (appropriate for adults), and SU (appropriate for all ages).
In Indonesia, there is an institute that manages film censorship, it's called Lembaga Sensor Film (LSF - The Institute Of Film Censorship Indonesia). Every single movie must be approved by LSF in order to be released in domestic cinemas.
However, the movies censorship has gone wild and wilder. There are too many good scenes being chopped off from its original, even the climax of the movie. Movie's producers do not have their own freedom to produce a good movie anymore. A movie is no longer be able to deliver its messages.
As we all know, movies have many functions. First of all, movie is used for entertaining. A movie can be used to criticize a person or an institution like the government. Besides, a movie is a really effective equipment for learning by watching it.
Censorship is actually good to prevents the spreading of bad habits, like fight scenes, curse words, even promoting drugs. Unfortunately, LSF still allows war scenes to be showed, but instead bans kissing scenes.
However, we have to keep in mind that movies are all about acting. From the facts above, we can conclude that:
