In Islamic Education Management, there are functions that clarify objectives, benefits, and provide insights to build scientific concepts. These principles will be applied in the implementation of management in Islamic educational institutions. The functions of management in education generally include the functions of Planning, Organizing, Directing, and Controlling, which will be elaborated further in this article.
This paper aims to provide a broader understanding of four key aspects in the Functions of Islamic Education Management on a Global/International scale: Educational Planning, Organizing Education, Educational Leadership, Supervision, and the Education Quality Assurance System.
First, Educational Planning;Â
Planning in Islamic education management is a crucial initial step that determines the direction and success of all educational activities. It is a rational and systematic process of deciding what to do, how to do it, when to do it, and who will carry it out, in order to improve the quality of education effectively and efficiently while aligning with both worldly and spiritual goals. According to Mahdi bin Ibrahim, good planning must meet several requirements: accuracy, timely execution, coherence between operational phases, attention to practical aspects, and strong organizational skills. Burhanuddin adds that effective planning should be data-based, created by experts, detailed yet simple, flexible, continuous, improvement-oriented, and consider potential risks. Key activities in planning include setting priorities, defining objectives, formulating procedures, and assigning responsibilities. Therefore, well-prepared planning is the foundation for successful Islamic education management.
Second, Organizing;Â
Organizing in Islamic education management is the process of arranging and structuring various parts into a unified system to achieve shared goals effectively. It involves defining clear structures, roles, and responsibilities in a transparent manner, as well as fostering coordination and interaction. According to Ramayulis, organizing helps align vision and mission through well-structured authority and duties, based on the principles of freedom, justice, and mutual consultation. The process includes task division, forming integrated structures, assigning people to appropriate roles, and ensuring all parts work harmoniously. Its main goal is to facilitate effective collaboration, simplify supervision, and keep all efforts focused on the intended objectives, ensuring that resources---especially human resources---are used efficiently.
Third, Educational Leadership;Â
The directing function in Islamic educational leadership is the process of giving tasks, orders, and instructions so that staff can understand the leader's intent and contribute effectively and efficiently to achieving organizational goals. A leader must guide with gentleness, firmness, and good communication to ensure the direction is well-received and implemented. Effective directing involves four key components: the director, the person being directed, the content of the instruction, and the method of communication. The principles of directing include religious-based guidance, exemplary conduct, consistency, openness, kindness, and wise decision-making. The message must also be realistic and not burdensome, so it can be properly carried out. As stated in the Qur'an (Ali Imran [3]: 159), a leader should act with compassion and wisdom, as harshness may drive people away.Â
Fourth, Supervision Educational;
Supervision in Islamic education management is a continuous monitoring process to ensure that activities run according to the planned goals, both materially and spiritually. Supervision is carried out by managers and is also understood as part of Allah's oversight. For it to be effective, supervision requires a clear plan and organizational structure. Its principles emphasize a humane approach based on Islamic values. Key activities include monitoring, comparing performance with goals, correcting deviations, and guiding the process back to the right path.
