In the past few days, first we had known about what happened to Governor of  DKI Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama or well known as Ahok, has been named a suspect in a case of alleged blasphemy, Tito Karnavian had announced this on Wednesday. And second is, we’ve been deeply disheartened by a bomb attack on a Church in the East Kalimantan capital of Samarinda. In this second case, i didn’t know when that happened until my Sister made a bbm status and put a picture of  Intan Marbun (an adorable toddler who died of severe burns from the incident) as her display picture in bbm. I didn’t know when that happened because i don’t have tv in my kosan and i never watch tv. With that two cases that had been showed, i ask myself, what is this? It’s an irony or it’s just a test of tolerance?

1.Ahok’s case, it’s an irony or just a test of tolerance?

Governor of DKI Jakarta , well known as Ahok, has been named a suspect in a case of alleged blashpemy  as we all knew. Worse, the drama played by the political elites in responding to those worries have in fact heated the situation. The political elites who used the November 4th action as a stage to further their own interests. On the other hand  i look to the other candidates, Agus and Anies. From my point of  view, i think Governor candidates Agus and Anies now bear the responsibility of keeping the already tense Jakarta’s Governor Race from descending further into sectarianism. For me, their leadership qualities will be judged by how they compete in the election, particularly the way they respond to sectarian attacks on Ahok.

After that, i ask myself again, why? Why? Why our kind of society always over react? Who’s to blame? I do believe that education is the only one and has to take the blame. Why? Because this kind of society is an example of  educational failure to create mature citizens who are not easily trapped in religious, racial and political conflict. Our education should go back to a value system that accepts Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (unity in diversity) and  Pancasila as our fundamental to raise our nationality in our lovely country. As Indonesia citizens, we should all know that we embrace Pancasila as a culturally accepted universal truth to legitimize and manage power in our country. When i watch tv and hear the use of word “kafir” to express the anger and can’t accept the difference in race, religion, ethnic, etc , i do believe that the teaching of  Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (unity in diversity) and Pancasila seem not to be well-grounded within our schools and universities. This can be problematic as our educational system fails to nurture the values of  Pancasila within daily teaching activities. So, it’s our homework. Yes, us! Parents, Teacher, Leader, etc, it’s our responsibility to teach the meaning of Pancasila and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (unity in diversity) to our kids, students, people, etc to make a mature citizens and a better Indonesia in a large scale.

Well, even it’s possible for Ahok that he will spend five years in jail (read : the law. Based on what i hear from youtube) because of his words, but let’s first be clear something. First, i’m happy when Ahok lead DKI Jakarta so far. Why? Because the capital’s willingness to be led by man who represents double minority (as a Christian and the first ethnic Tionghoa). This showed us that the progress of pluralism, even some organizatition didn’t support him and made protests from the very first time and started a joke at first with “Gubernur Tandingan”. Second, I think Ahok didn’t intend to insult Islam or the Quran – and he has apologized for sounding offensive. Why i want to argue this? I will tell you a logic sense. It’s impossible that someone holding a double minority identity and running for the election in Indonesia would intentionally taunt a sacred symbol of the religion embraced by the majority of the voters, -unless he secretly wanted to lose. Do you think that Ahok is a jackass that want to be  killed because his stupid action? Nope! And if he wanted to insult, he’s too stupid if  he insult a sacred symbol of the religion where Jakarta is the capital of the world’s largest Muslim majority nation.

The fact is that many Governor did nothing to the capital, until Ahok  surfaced. So it’s funny when people especially not Jakartans, protest to much about Ahok. Ahok is the Governor of  DKI Jakarta, not a President Of Republic Indonesia. So why are outsiders interfering Ahok’s work and his performance by gathering in Jakarta to demonstrate against him and commit crimes while Jakartans remain at home, work at office and still support Ahok? Let’s be wise everyone. We’re adult! Let these ignorant demonstrators go home and gather in their own cities and protest the work of their own Governors! Ahok is capable and is still trying to improve.

Well, this is the time how we see this country will move. This country will move forward or backward. Then, i show you some example. Look what happened to Sri Mulyani, Antasari Azhar, Abraham Samad and Bambang Widjojanto, we were enough to see some idealism people in Indonesia, some of them had spent time in jail, and some being blamed. I don’t want to lose this man whom i see an idealism man. I don’t want to lose Ahok who represents double minority. It’s about idealism and pluralism! If Ahok will spend time in jail so we’re in danger. We will lose an idealism man, and honestly he’s capable to lead DKI Jakarta, on the other side we didn’t implement Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (unity in diversity). Then we break the law. I think UUD (Undang Undang Dasar) provides an equal opportunity to everyone to actively participate in the system of the government, to elect and to be elected. The UUD provides this. So, If Ahok spend time in jail (i don’t justify his actions and his words, i just use a logic sense), we’re in danger, NKRI in danger. I think we have to implement Bhinneka Tunggal Ika (unity in diversity) and Pancasila in our lives. And we have to tell Indonesians that we have to accept the diversity of ethnic and religion and cultural AND Pancasila and Bhinneka Tunggal Ika should be superiority in this Country. Look at Singapore, fellas! They accept differences in race, religious, the colour of skin, etc, they move forward! If we can’t so Indonesia will move backward! I don’t know if Ahok spend time in jail, i don’t even know it’s an irony or just a test of tolerance? Let’s take care of Indonesia.

2. East Kalimantan, Samarinda

I ask My Sister “Who is she? Why you put her picture in your display picture of BBM? What happened to her? Is she okay?” in response to my Sister’s display picture of BBM. Then i see the news from youtube, i have no idea and i don’t know what to say.

“When his 2-year-old daughter Intan Marbun asked to be allowed to join her cousin playing on the front porch of the oikumene Church, Anggiat Marbun let her go without giving it a second thought. It was the last time Anggiat would see his daughter”, according to the news in youtube (Metro TV). Well, one thing that we should realize is, it could happen to everyone. It could happen to you, to me, and to us. We never know the future. It could happen to our parents, our daughter and son, our closest friend, etc. Some people didn’t realize this.

The act of violence is therefore a grim reminder that there are people who always intend to undermine pluralism as the foundation of our home Indonesia. It will be the responsibility of us like i said before in “Ahok’s case”. Education plays a vital role in here to revitalize the mindset of citizens.
