Through Indo-Pacific Collaboration with President University and Prof Amitav Acharya of The American University

On Wednesday, November 8, the Southeast Asia Lecture Hall hosted an international class on Indo-Pacific Cooperation in partnership with many domestic and international colleges, including President University (PresUniv). Prof. Amitav Acharya, a famous professor at American University's School of International Service, led the classes, which were attended by over a thousand people.

In order to survive and thrive, a country's international ties become extremely crucial. In order to do this, Indonesia must also develop its international ties. Student exchange, summer school, international seminars, international scholarships, joint degrees, double degrees, and other forms of collaboration between universities are examples.

ASEAN sees the Indo-Pacific as an interconnected and connected region, prioritizes discussion and collaboration, focuses on development for prosperity, and incorporates marine issues into regional planning through this document. 

he importance of ASEAN centrality and respect for the principles that have served as the foundation for collaboration with these regional organizations was also stressed by ASEAN. The study of Global International Relations underpins this Indo-Pacific cooperation. 

This collaboration intends to challenge western dominance in international relations by employing non-Western theories such as realism and liberalism, studying regional and global history, utilizing non-Western society institutions, and focusing on the exchange of ideas gained through mutual learning.

"Indo-Pacific collaboration is a concept designed for cooperation amongst Southeast Asian countries," Acharya explained. The concepts of openness, transparency, and inclusiveness, as well as friendship and the rule of international law, underpin this concept." 

Indonesia pioneered Indo-Pacific cooperation at the Asian Relations Conferences in 1947 and 1949, then the Asia-Africa Conference in Bandung in 1955, and lastly the Indo-Pacific Agreement in 1975. (2013). On certain areas, including as the economy, climate change, and health, Indo-Pacific cooperation is expected to build new institutions with the participation of ASEAN member countries.
