Introduction
Amid the increasingly complex development of the education world, Islamic educational institutions are required to compete globally without neglecting Islamic values. The current phenomenon shows that many Islamic schools and institutions still focus on moral and spiritual aspects but have not fully optimized the application of modern management principles. This has led to inefficiencies in resource management, disorganized program implementation, and less-than-optimal achievement of institutional goals.
This is where the gap lies---a critical issue that demands attention: how to effectively and practically integrate Islamic values with modern management functions. The answer lies in the implementation of core management functions: planning, organizing, directing, and controlling within the framework of Islamic Education Management.
First: The Planning Function in Islamic Education Management
Planning is the initial and essential step to ensure the success of educational goals. In Islamic education, planning involves not only determining actions but also deep contemplation to achieve maximum outcomes. Effective planning must be conducted thoroughly, on time, with relevance, and with attention to practical and organizational aspects. Burhanuddin emphasizes that plans must be data-driven, prepared by those knowledgeable in planning, and detailed yet easy to understand.
Second: The Organizing Function in Islamic Education Management
Organizing refers to arranging the components of an institution into a unified system. In Islamic education, the goal is to align all organizational elements with the institution's vision and mission. Effective organization is marked by the clear distribution of tasks, authority, and responsibilities. It also helps leadership monitor staff and assign tasks appropriately. This strategic step maximizes performance across the institution.
Third: The Directing Function of Leadership
Directing in Islamic education management is the communication process between leaders and staff, often in the form of tasks, instructions, or orders. Its purpose is to help staff clearly understand leadership expectations. Effective direction involves four components: the director, the recipient, the content of direction, and the methods used. Islamic principles highlight religious values such as exemplary behavior, consistency, openness, and wisdom, creating a harmonious and responsible work atmosphere.
Fourth: The Controlling Function in Islamic Education Management
Controlling is a vital function that ensures all educational activities are in line with the predetermined plan. In Islamic education, it is not only technical but also spiritual. According to Ramayulis, control must be applied using a humane approach and Islamic values like honesty, justice, and responsibility. Hadranawai stresses the importance of monitoring operations to ensure alignment with goals. Proper control allows continuous evaluation and improvement for better educational quality.
