Going down a linear timeline of the event I had to fill a google form filled with questions regarding my stances concerning topics relating to the Indonesian National Awakening Day. Below are the questions listed with full descriptive answers that I gave.

Anda sudah menyimak lagu Kebangsaan Indonesia Raya 3 Stanza. Dengarkan kembali dengan khidmat, mana bagian syair yang menarik & mengapa syair itu menarik untuk Anda?

"Indonesia, tanah yang mulia, Tanah kita yang kaya" To me these lines in particular really sparked my interest, predominantly because it's reinstating our value both in the literal sense that we are rich in natural resources but also as a state that was stripped away prior by our Dutch colonizers and Japanese occupation. This also to me, personally, reflects a sense of hopefulness in the future of the country.

Menurut Anda mengapa peran generasi muda penting bagi masa depan sebuah bangsa?

The obvious answer would probably be that we are going to replace the older generations in important roles both in our government, but also key pillars of industries and other parts of society. This is true, however, there's an added reason that we are also being handed massive systemic problems that the prior generations haven't successfully dealt with in their lifetime, this is a responsibility that have fallen into our shoulders involuntarily, but looking in the bright side we have the means to access more information to  better solve the problems, perhaps even from the prior generation's mistakes or missteps, so there is more hope that we would able to fulfill our responsibilities.

Menurut Anda apa saja tantangan bagi generasi muda saat ini?

I personally think that this question is far too broad for me to provide a sufficient answer, however the ones that I can think of off the top of my head are probably, political apathy, westernization, political/religious extremism, lack of analytical thinking skills, the mishandling/misused of the internet and social media, generational poverty, untreated mental health issues, and many more.

During the day of the event, there are many things that are worth mentioning such as brief explanations concerning the Indonesian National Awakening Day as well as how to present in a professional way, and to experience a brainstorm session with many of my peers concerning the topic that we were given within our group (Gen z's perception on the Indonesian National Awakening Day). To share and develop each other's ideas given the time constraint, the fact that we all came from different backgrounds, and lack of familiarity with one another is both surprisingly and astonishingly very similar to how our founding fathers gained their spirit drive to unshackle ourself from dutch colonial rule. At the end of the session we were given time to present our findings in a fascinating and informative way.

One of the biggest take away realization from the event is that it has showcased how people are currently unattached or uninterested on the topic of National Awakening. This might be a sad indicator that their attachment towards the country is also minimal to say the least. With this realization, I truly felt the necessity of the event and the changes that needed to be implemented to make people want to be involved in the progression of the country instead of being a passive actor in it.

I think that one of the important changes that needed to be implemented is the proper education to refine our current human resources, especially concerning analytical thinking skills as well as education on how to articulate their thoughts better, especially within the age where social media basically run our lives, and have a much higher stake on it too nowadays. I think that it would be a great benefit for the country since it could mark up the human-capital that we have on the global market, which all by itself would be a great asset, but in a more domestic outlook, it would also ensure that the future of the country will be secure in the hand of well qualified citizens.

On a personal note, the benefit from this event is probably the experience to refine my public speaking skills which has been rusty since it had been a long time since I had mc'd before this event, my deliberation and teamworking skills also got refined even further in the brainstorming session with the other members of my group. Hopefully, something that I can apply and develop even further in my studies as a university student. In that aspect, in hindsight it may be confusing for some that i'm writing this in english since it perhaps does not completely aligned perfectly with the current topic at hand; and I do apologize if that was the case, in all honesty i'm just more comfortable and confident I my english writing than my Indonesian one. But the silver lining to all of this is that it may be beneficial that I could break the language barrier and expand our discussion to a wider audience, perhaps a global one. Especially since the existential necessity we have to exist in the global consciousness.
