Globalization requires Islamic educational institutions to develop themselves internationally. This development encourages adaptation to the existing reality. However, the implementation of educational management functions, which are largely influenced by Western theories and practices, is often not fully aligned with the culture or reality in Islamic education. Therefore, this essay aims to identify, analyze and formulate the functions of Islamic education management that are relevant and effective in a global context, by bridging the gap between general management theories and the principles of Islamic teachings and the reality of Islamic education institutions at the international level.

First, the function of planning in Islamic education management. Planning is a crucial first step in Islamic education management to achieve goals effectively and efficiently according to Islamic teachings. The requirements for its preparation are not only about balanced world-afterlife goals. But, there are five other important things that are thorough and clear in forming goals, timely, attention to aspects of practice, and organizational skills. The criteria for good Islamic education planning are data-based planning, compiled by experts, detailed, simple, flexible, sustainable, improvement-oriented, and considering risks. Activities include prioritization, goal setting, formulation of action procedures, and assignment of responsibilities to individuals and work groups.

Second, the organizing function of Islamic education management. Organizing in Islamic education is the process of preparing structures, activities, interactions, coordination, authority design, and tasks in a transparent and clear manner based on the principles of freedom, justice, and deliberation to unite the vision and mission and achieve common goals. Organizing requires a clear division of tasks, authority and responsibility in an integrated structure. The goal is to facilitate the implementation of tasks, supervision, achievement of goals, and placement of the right people in each position. The organizing process helps individuals/groups to detail, divide, combine work efficiently, establish coordination mechanisms, and monitor organizational effectiveness.

Third, the function of leadership direction. Direction and leadership in Islamic education management is the process of giving clear tasks and instructions with good communication according to Islamic teachings. The components of direction consist of the director, the recipient of the direction, the content of the direction (orders, prohibitions, guidance), and the method of communication between the two. The principle of direction in Islamic education management emphasizes religious guidance, role modeling, and the delivery of realistic directions according to the recipient's ability.

Fourth, supervision of Islamic education management. Supervision in Islamic education management is a continuous observation effort to ensure the implementation of activities according to plan, both material and spiritual. Managers need a clear plan and a defined organizational structure as an absolute requirement for designing and maintaining an effective supervisory system. The principles of supervision in Islamic education management are material and spiritual, upholding human dignity and using an Islamic values approach. The work activities of supervision include observing the implementation of activities according to plan, making sure everything is going as it should, comparing actual performance with goals, making corrections if there are significant deviations, and using monitoring as a control tool to achieve goals.

The functions of Islamic education management include planning, organizing, directing and supervising. Planning is the initial foundation with clear priorities and goals based on Islamic values. Organizing creates a coordinated structure and division of tasks. Directing provides wise guidance and instruction with Islamic communication. Meanwhile, supervision ensures compliance with the plan through monitoring and correction oriented towards spiritual and human values.
