In the development of the world of Islamic education, management plays an important role in directing educational institutions to be able to adapt to the demands of the times. What is happening now shows that many Islamic educational institutions face complex challenges in managing the education system. Therefore, a selective-adaptive approach is needed in managing Islamic education, namely by criticizing conventional management principles and then integrating them with the values of revelation and local context. Basic management functions such as planning, organizing, directing/leadership, and supervision as explained by Robbin and Coulter and Mahdi bin Ibrahim.
First, the Function of Planning in Islamic Education Management, Planning in Islamic education management is a crucial initial step to achieve educational goals that are balanced between the world and the hereafter. This process requires precision, clarity of purpose, operational integration, and continuous evaluation. Planning must be flexible, simple, and based on accurate data. With careful planning, all educational activities can be directed, effective, and efficient in meeting the demands of society and improving the quality of Islamic educational institutions.
Second, the Function of Organizing Islamic Education Management, Organizing in Islamic education management is the process of structuring, dividing tasks, authority, and responsibilities clearly and orderly to achieve effective and efficient educational goals. The principles of justice, deliberation, and togetherness are the main foundations. This process includes coordination between work units, determining positions according to competence, and evaluating performance so that the organization runs harmoniously, is directed, and is able to adapt to changes and the needs of society.
Third, the Function of Directing Leadership, Directing in Islamic education management is the process of giving instructions, guidance, and motivation to staff to work effectively and efficiently. Directing must be done with good communication, gentle, and full of examples. Religious principles, openness, and paying attention to the abilities of the recipient of direction are very important so that directing can be carried out optimally and produce maximum performance.
Fourth, Supervision of Islamic Education Management, Supervision in Islamic education management is a continuous monitoring process to ensure the implementation of activities according to plan. Supervision includes material and spiritual aspects, with a humane approach based on Islamic values. Supervision activities involve evaluation, comparison of results with objectives, and correction of deviations so that the process runs effectively and in accordance with the vision of Islamic education.
Islamic education management plays an important role in facing the challenges of the times by integrating conventional management principles and revealed values. Functions such as planning, organizing, directing, and supervising must be carried out effectively to achieve educational goals that are balanced between the world and the hereafter.
