MANCHESTER - Manchester City have finally officially inaugurated the arrival of Norwegian striker Erling Haaland today, Monday (13/6/2022). The former Borussia Dortmund player was also welcomed at Man City considering his biological father, Alf-Inge Haaland was a player who had defended The Citizens from 2000 to 2003.
In the announcement, Haaland was reportedly tied to a five-year contract, namely until the summer of 2027. This was officially confirmed through a release on the club's official website.
"Manchester City are delighted to confirm the signing of Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, he will remain at the Etihad Stadium until the summer of 2027," read a statement on the club's official website, Monday (13/6/2022).
Haaland also followed in the footsteps of his father, Alf Haaland who defended Man City from 2000 to 2003. Alfie - Haaland's father's nickname - is a defensive midfielder who appeared 45 times and scored three goals and one assist.
Haaland admits that joining Man City is a proud thing for him and his family. In addition, the player who was brought in from Borussia Dortmund admitted that he had often watched Man City matches in the last few seasons.
"It's a proud day for me and my family, I've always watched Man City and I've been delighted to have done so over the last few seasons," he said.
"You can't help but admire their style of play, it's exciting, they create a lot of chances, it's perfect for a player like me," continued Haaland.
Haaland was recruited from Dortmund with a dowry of 75 million Euros or equivalent to Rp. 1.1 trillion. This figure is the value listed in Haaland's release clause, so Man City does not have to bother negotiating with the Dortmund camp.
Of course it's interesting whether Haaland, who is touted as the best candidate for the future, can adjust to Man City. Especially can the 21-year-old striker be able to adapt to English football.
