How We Do Our Mission?

In her research, Allison Graham, a speaker at TEDx Talk, says, internet becomes the top or basic human needs in this 4 generation (4G).

Internet is on the top position; the needs of internet is (90%), air (5%), water (4%) and food (only 1%). So what happened with the basic needs of human being, at this century? Actually, we are covering by the new regime now -- the regime of Facebook, the regime of twitter, whatsapp, line, instagram, and so on.

Before we encounter with Christ Jesus in our apostolate place, let me warm up your mind and everything that you have prepared during this long week. Jesus and Paul will accompany us, with some advices that I have taken from their preaching of today.

Well, my dear brothers in Christ Jesus, we have heard that St. Paul suggest the people in the Corinthians about the idol. Corinth's -- as we know -- is the strategies harbor in Mediterranean Sea, in which people from every corner of the world was resting. Some story put Corinth's as the city of evil in the world -- like the heart of prostitution, black magic is growing up there, etc.

So, Paul came with the glory of God, try to repent them by renewing the communion that Christ Jesus has shown in the form of His body and blood. That's why, Paul says in his letter, "Brother, you cannot drink at the same time from the cup of the Lord and from the cup of demons"; and he adds also, "You cannot also share in the table of the Lord and in the table of demons". What does these statements mean? I am interested to follow up this statement.

This advice in which Paul preaches to the Corinthians at the time, in the same case, also still moving up through the people, who are living in this century. The ancient illustration in Corinthians, actually has an anima that move the people nowadays. It clearly happens in our everyday life, let us say the spirit of seeking internet is same with the spirit of seeking Christ. Let me say that internet has changed the role of food -- new food named internet. Internet gives all the solutions that what people need today, even food itself.

So, what I am going to say from this example is, actually we are in the way of turning to the wide apart of theology or (teologi kangkang). Kangkang theology means people adore two different things in their daily live, as follows God (who redeem us from the troops of evil) and gods (new redeemer, like money, internet, wealth, sex, and so on). 

So my dear brothers in Christ Jesus, from now you have to make your real decision. If you chose Christ as the heart of your strengthen, it means you have to cut off the other option! We cannot get the same spirit from two deferent things, body and blood of Christ in Eucharistic celebration and sei babi and cocktail in the wedding party. We have to follow the only one way, in which we say loudly in credo: "I believe in Christ, one Church and one God".

This advice, hopefully help us to focus on our mission in the apostolate place, as long this day. I try to highlights what was Paul saying in his letter to the Corinthians, because, I am afraid that some of us will be astray or twist from the target of mission as long their apostolate responsibility. The sense of focus, sometimes is lost, cause some beautiful objects or any others challenges.

Brothers in Christ Jesus, let us move on to the Gospel. Today's Gospel also has the great things that inspire us as long this day. That is about the foundation of your mission. What we are going to preach, teach, show and bring to those we meet today? If you bring the Good News from Christ, I am sure that you will bear good fruits, but on the contrary, if you bring your problem from the community, certainly you are in the wrong way.

It means that you are preaching bad news, if you do not place Christ as the foundation and center of your apostolate. And as Jesus says, those who are preaching without the strong backup (the Father) it means your mission is like a man who built his house on the ground without foundation. The flood burst against it, and the house felt at once, and what a terrible disaster that was.  

Foundation that highlights in the epilog this passage, encourage us in doing our mission. It is really becomes our petrol as long this day. Jesus shows these two kinds of foundations, just to remind us that, our live is circle by two different things that is: light or dark, black or white, life or dead, and so on. In front of these two things, we have to be carefully and smart to make a decision. In our mission, Christ absolutely becomes the cornerstone or foundation for us. We go anywhere and spread throughout the world; we never apart from Him. So, the question is why we have to place Christ as the foundation of our mission?

There are so many answers that I could capture in your mind from this tribune, but I am not sure that you committed with the question. The only simple answer is, because Jesus Himself has begun this mission. We just try to keep and living it till now. In the other hand, we could say foundation (that is Jesus) pushes us to produce something new, that is make him known as He already known us. And, the last, may you become the new Gospel for those you meet at your apostolate places. Your testimony, must be the Fifth Gospel.
