Definition of Axiology
The word axiology comes from the Greek axios which has a meaning value, and logos which has a meaning of science or theory. So, axiology is a theory of values. The value in question is something that humans have to do various considerations about what is valued.According to Bramel, axiology is divided into three parts. First, moral conduct, which is moral action, this field gives birth to a specific discipline, namely ethics. Second, esthetic expression, namely the expression of beauty. This field gives birth to beauty. Third, socio-political life, namely social and political life, which will give birth to socio-political philosophy.
Axiological Aspects
The axiological aspect of philosophy discusses the issue of values or morals that apply in human life. From axiology, in general there emerged two branches of philosophy that discussed aspects of the quality of human life, namely ethics and aesthetics.
Why in philosophy there is a view that says values are very important, because philosophy as philosophy of life teaches the values that exist in life that function as controllers of human scientific nature. This value theory is the same as religion which guides human life.
1. Ethics
Ethics is one branch of philosophy that discusses the morality of good and bad values, ethics can be defined as values or norms that become the handle of humans or societies that govern their behavior.
Ethics comes from two words ethos which means nature, character, habit, ethikos means immorality, civilization or good deeds and actions.
In another term called moral derived from the Latin mores, plural from mos which means custom, habit. In Arabic it is called akhlaq which means character and in Indonesian it is called moral discipline.
2. Aesthetics
Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy that questions art and beauty. The term aesthetic comes from the word Yunai which means aesthesis, which means sensory absorption, intellectual understanding, or it can also mean spiritual observation. The term art comes from the Latin word ars, which means art, skill, science, or prowess.
Aesthetics is a branch of philosophy that gives attention to the nature of beauty, art, taste, or tastes, creations, and appreciation of beauty. Scientifically, it is defined as the study of values that result from sensory-emotion sometimes called sentimentality or taste or taste. Broadly speaking, aesthetics are defined as critical reflections on art, culture and nature. Aesthetics is associated with axiology as a branch of philosophy and is also associated with philosophy of art.
