"Ready Player One" (2018), Great Movie with Great Technology

Talks about technology, that thing will no be separate into our life. We all know that technology is and always will be the part in this world even since prehistoric time. Ready Player One is a film that describes about technology, especially in the future. 

It takes place in 2045, when much of humanity uses the virtual reality software called OASIS (Ontologically Anthropocentric Sensory Immersive Simulation) to escape the real world. Basically, OASIS is a video game and we can choose the character which known as "avatar" with different shape, gender, and appearance. This film introduces us how Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality technologies become one. 

We can have fun surfing in a game world without looking at the screen in front of you. In OASIS, we are like in the real world but packed with video games and the characters we choose. This film deals with technological developments in the world.  Modern VR technology began in 2010 when Palmer Luckey introduced the first prototype Oculus Rift. 

This technology continued to be developed until Oculus was bought by Facebook in 2014, along with the emergence of VR devices from other gadget manufacturers. Currently, VR is not only used to enjoy artificial panoramas or play games, but also surgeon training can be done using VR media.

In OASIS, users can create their own persona, from name to appearance. OASIS users can interact with each other as if they were face to face in the real world. Apart from using VR devices that are attached to their heads, the explorers of OASIS also wear costumes called Haptics Suits. This costume is designed with a temperature sensor that makes virtual touch feel in the real world. We can feel the touch and even the pain when we are attacked when using these costumes.  

There are various features in OASIS, such as searching for fellow avatars, changing the appearance of the avatar at any time and we can be everything that we want.  This film employs technology that has inspired many people, including large companies, to create virtual reality. I think this film is a good way to be an inspiration to people because this world really needs people who think visionaries that can see the world in its entirety and create something that will be useful for our survival, one of which is through technology. 

In my opinion, this film teaches us that although technology is unavoidable, we shouldn't live in cyberspace just to escape the problems we face in the real world. We must know that we control the technology, not the technology that controls us.

This film also suitable for viewing for the younger generation who need inspiration to create something for this world. Besides that, VR technology also has benefits for all aspects such as the world of health, military, technology companies, and many other aspects that can be related to this technology. We can get the positive and negative affect from this film. 

The positive affect is it can inspire us to create something like this technology that shown in this film and pushing us to know that technology is important nowadays so we should getting used and start learning about it. 

Besides that, there is also a negative affect like we come to think that cyberspace is fun and tend not to want to live our real life, we don't like ourselves in real life and want to change what God has given us by going into a virtual world like the game world at OASIS in the film. However, we must be able to sort out which ones we can take as lessons for ourselves and which ones we should avoid.
