Digital Education System, The Right Solution for Facing 5.0 Revolution Era

When we talk about digital education, what do we exactly think about it? Maybe some people are familiar with this, but there are also people who are still confused and don't know what digital education actually is. The University of Edinburg said, digital education is the innovative use of digital tools and technologies during teaching and learning, and is often referred to as Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) or e-Learning. 

Basically, the principle of digital education is to combine face-to-face learning with online activities. For example, the teacher or tutor provides material briefly using a book, then students can search for the material in more depth using the internet. This learning method teaches students to explore the material independently and in a more creative way without having to stick to books. 

By implementing digital education system, learning evaluation can be carried out by the teacher automatically through a digital process, so there is no need for manual corrections through paper. The evaluation results obtained will be faster, more accurate and objective. Digital learning can also unify all conventional teaching and learning activities into digital form.  

So what makes the digital education system a solution in the 5.0 revolution era? This industrial concept was created by Japan which was revealed by the Japanese prime minister on January 21, 2019. The development of technology is so fast, including the presence of robots with intelligence that are considered to replace human roles. 

This is the background for the birth of Industry 5.0 which can be interpreted as a concept of a human-centered and technology-based society.  It is used to balance economic progress with solving social problems through systems that deeply integrate virtual and physical space. From this explanation, of course it can be concluded that the 5.0 industrial revolution requires people to be more technologically literate because in the future humans are 'forced' to interact with technology. 

In Industry 4.0, people search for, quote, and analyze data or information by accessing cloud services via the internet. Meanwhile, in  5.0 revolution era, a large amount of information from sensors in physical space is accumulated in cyberspace and analyzed by artificial intelligence, and the results are fed back to humans in physical space in various forms. 5.0 revolution era is an era where all technology is a part of every human being.

The internet is not only for information but for living life. Therefore, technology must be studied as early as possible so that each individual can prepare for this era. The digital education system can be an approach to technology applied by the younger generation to advance the country in the future. 

Indonesia has implemented a digital education system because the situation does not support face-to-face learning during this pandemic.  I think this is a good opportunity for Indonesia to continue implementing this education system even though the corona virus outbreak is over. 

"Our opportunity to implement various kinds of efficiency and technology with software with applications and provide opportunities for teachers and principals as well as students to implement various kinds of hybrid models or school learning management systems, the potential is very large," said Indonesia's education minister, Nadiem Makarim. The digital education system can be the first step in advancing the infrastructure of a country, including Indonesia. By implementing this system, Indonesia can prepare itself for the 5.0 revolution in the future for a better Indonesia.
