Well, that will be disappointed... You do not design your properties to being sprayed, don't you? Now lets discuss about that thing....
Yogyakarta is well-known as a cultured and educated city which many people from several backgrounds stay for working or studying in many schools/universities. In the view of cultural aspect, Yogyakarta keeps many things about Javanese Culture, for example, traditional dancing, art of Batik, traditional clothes, city philosophy, and many more.Sultan Palace (Kraton) is one of the examples. There are many numbers of meanings and philosophies that can be found inside. Certainly, they have been promoted well by local people and also known by foreigners. On the other hand, education also becomes the one of the most important things which leads that city to the educated city. Many people do their study there and hope what they have done can be applied to their hometown outside Yogyakarta. Based on that elucidation, it can be concluded that Yogyakarta is the special district which keeps many precious things, especially in culture and education aspects
Recently, there is an ironic phenomenon that has been happening in Yogyakarta for many years involving juveniles in some schools or universities. Graffiti vandalism is a phenomenon which now has been ongoing in several places in Yogyakarta City.Those places spread around in that city which often make uncomfortable condition to every people passing through the place. That action, graffiti vandalism, is often being done by several juveniles with many kinds of instruments including aerosol or paint. Meanwhile, the forms of that action are not only words but also logos, signs, or pictures and they have their own meanings according to the doer’s motivation. They can be meant as emotional expression like anger,frustration, fear, jealousy, arousal, disappointment, desperation, boredom,enjoyment, and many more. On the other hand, they also can be meant as existence condition like territorial signs which contain the name of groups,organizations, communities, or gangsters. Frequently, it will have been being done silently in the nighttime and probably that cause a difficult operation to catch the juvenile doers.
Well, actually, there are many evidences that we can find near about graffiti vandalism in this city. When we start walking outside, we will find a sprayed letter written on walls, doors, and any other street furnitures. Theories have been already discussed to explain that phenomenon, but practically maybe we have done nothing in order to decrease it.
