Talaud is also known as Fisherman's Island because almost 80% of Talaud's people work as fishermen. Therefore, if you have the opportunity to visit Talaud, don't be surprised because in every village you visit there will always be a "sampan" along the coast of the village. This "sampan" in the Kabaruan dialect is known as "ACCAN, NA". Meanwhile, in the Karakelang (Binalang) dialect, it is called "LONDE".
Here there are several Talaud Indigenous Languages that you should also know before traveling to Talaud Island:
"MALLINTTU,U HARELE" which means prayer for land clearing preparation. (HARELE=PEDANG)
"MALLINTTU, U WUALAN" Means Prayer for preparation for planting seeds. (WUALAN=BIBIT)
"MALIU TONNA TABE" Means religious and customary activities to part with the old year.
"MANNARIMA,U TONNA WATRU" Means Religious and customary activities to welcome the New Year.
