After the advent of 1949-1950, the idea emerged to return to the unitary state. A number of countries such as East Java, Madura, etc. decided to immediately join the Republic of Indonesia. A rather tenacious rejection came from the State of East Sumatra. Through internal lobbies finally successfully held a new approach until finally a conference of large groups was made to determine the NIT (State of East Indonesia), NST (State of East Sumatra) and RI. All this was finally completed on August 14th, 1950, with other RIS parliamentary approvals to accept the draft Constitution of the Unitary State with a comparison of 80 votes in favor, 18 votes rejected. The next day, August 15th, 1950, Bung Karno left for Yogyakarta to re-accept the post of President Ri from the Acting President of the Republic of Indonesia Mr. Assaat.
