Basically technology is the development of science, which we can call a real form or result of the implementation of that science. Technology was created to help human activities, with various technologies we can do and do a job easily and quickly, so it can be said that technology is a support that drives the progress and development of human life.
Islam encourages its people to develop science and technology (science and technology). In contrast to the Western world view which underlies the development of science and technology for material interests, Islam emphasizes the development and mastery of science and technology to become a means of worship. In addition, science and technology is also a Muslim devotion to Allah (spiritual) and develops the mandate of the khalifatullah (representative of Allah) on earth to serve humanity and spread mercy to all nature (rahmatan lil alamin).
The positive impact of technological developments in Islam is being able to develop information about da'wah through social media, no need to leave the house to attend recitations. In addition, technology can make it easier for us to spread and provide information or our knowledge about religion, provide each other with valid information.
For the negative impact, a lot of news or information - information that is inaccurate and not authentic that causes conflict due to differences of opinion. There is provocation between religious communities as a result of fake news.
This is where the role of religion as a way of life, we must review again. To avoid negative things due to the development of this technology, we need to fortify ourselves so as not to be carried away by the ease and practicality of applying it. As Muslims we must be wise and obedient to the teachings of Islam, starting with fortifying ourselves how we respond to the brunt of technological developments.
