Voting rights are the most important right in a democracy. It is both a privilege and a responsibility. It is the civil duty of every Indian citizen to vote during the time of election. Voting activity alos shows the opinions and concerns of the people indirectly. In order to vote, a person must be an Indian citizen. The government of India for this purpose issues voters' card to eligible voters (i.e, individuals above 18 years of age). A voters' ID card thus acts as a photo-identity proof,  proof of citizenship and also as an address proof.

As per 2014 elections more than 60 % of eligible Indian voters turned up to vote their preferred leaders.
With over 39 Lok Sabha constituencies and 234 Assembly Constituencies and an exceptional political record, Tamil Nadu ranks one of the most important states in Democratic India. The introduction of the online portal and the web services by the Chief Electoral Officer of Tamil Nadu, people can easily apply for a Tamil Nadu Voter ID Card and checking the status has become at any place and time.
